Love one another.

The heat makes me angry which is problematic since my house lacks air-conditioning. It seems fitting to write a fire and brimstone devotional during this scorching heat wave—I’m in the mood for it. If I shrewdly choose a victim to assail, I might garner a series of likes, shares, or better yet, succeed in getting something or someone cancelled! It is all too easy to rationalize vengeance, yet it is antithetical to Christ’s teaching.

At the Last Supper, Jesus instructed: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

In what ways do you exhibit love and kindness in stark contrast to the world? Can people see Christ through your love?
