Give Thanks.

Friends, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. 2021 is drawing to a close and many of us awoke to fog and snow. What an introduction to the Season of Advent!

Now, if any of you are like me, you could merrily jaunt straight to the Season of Advent. But let us, regardless of our personal preferences in pies, potato casseroles, and pumpkins, pause to thank our Lord for the gifts he has given us.

“I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify Him with thanksgiving.” - Psalm 69:30

• For the generous giving that is moving us down the path of buying a beautiful church, and furthering community roots.

• The gift of music, for with music we can glory in your love and raise our voices to you. We can slow dance with our loves, weep along in our cars.

• Thank you for books. They are treasures, and a glimpse into Your creativity.

“I will give thanks to the Lord the thanks due to His righteousness, and I will sing the praises to the name of the Lord, the Most High.” - Psalm 7:17

• We give thanks for our pets, for to many of us they provide comfort, companionship, safety, and delight.

• For a sense of humor, Lord, we praise you, for a lively sense of humor is restorative.

• We are in awe that you died, were buried, rose again, and ascended. For our restoration, Jesus: we worship you.

“I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known of me what we asked of you...” - Daniel 2:23

• Father, we thank you for the phases of life: for babies, the toddler years, romping childhood, challenging and funny teens, growing young adults, adulthood, and our golden and elder years, for in each one we grow.

• One of your greatest gifts, Lord, is friendship. May we have excellent friends, and be faithful friends, and honorable ones.

• We thank you, Jesus, for service, and its’ refinement. Challenge us to find ways to serve faithfully.

• Thank you for the gift of quiet.

• Thank you for your word: its’ refinement on our souls is never-ending. What a gift to us, for it is that which enables us to better glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

“...And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” - Colossians 3:15-16

Happy Thanksgiving, Communitas & friends. May your homes be filled with joy, peace, community, and thankfulness.
